What is the difference between a monument, headstone, and grave marker?

The terms overlap, but they usually mean different forms. A monument stands upright on a base. A headstone is a single upright stone at the head of a grave. A flat grave marker (also called a grass or flush marker) lies flush with the ground. We'll help you figure out which one your cemetery allows and what fits what you want.

Can I create a completely custom memorial?

Yes. Custom and special-cut memorials can be personalized in shape, size, color, lettering, inscriptions, and artwork. The point isn't to add everything — it's to make something personal that lasts.

What granite colors are available?
Grey, black, rose, green, and salt-and-pepper are all common. We'll go over what's currently available during your consultation so you can pick what fits the memorial you have in mind.

Can artwork or photographs be added?

Yes. Etched artwork, porcelain photos, portraits where it makes sense, flowers, religious or cultural symbols, military recognition, and images of hobbies or work can all be added. We'll talk through what works for the stone and the setting.

Can you add a final date or additional lettering to an existing monument?

Often, yes. We can add final dates, names, inscriptions, epitaphs, and decorative engraving, and we can usually match the existing lettering. Every stone is different, so we look at it first before promising anything.

Does the cemetery have to approve the monument?

Yes. Most cemeteries have rules about size, material, style, placement, and installation. It's best to check your cemetery's rules early.
